Help - Frequently Asked Questions

Lost Password

If you've lost or forgotten your password, go here. After clicking the link, please read the instructions carefully. This option gives you the ability to reestablish your password.

Changing Account Information

You have the ability to change most every aspect of your account information (i.e. password, email address, etc.) from your ACCOUNT INFO page, with the exception of your Username. To access the your ACCOUNT INFO page, you must first have an account and you have to be logged in. The LOGIN link is located at the top of the web site. After logging in, you will see the link to the ACCOUNT INFO page in the same area.

If you would like to change your Username, please contact us with this request. Please include your old Username and a couple of options for the new Username since your first option may already be taken by another user.

Log In Problems

If you are experiencing log in problems, there are several reasons this could be happening - some on our end and some with settings on your end. Please read over the following bullet points to troubleshoot your situation. If none of the options below work for you, please contact us.

  • Improper Username/Email and Password Combination: You have the ability to log in using a Password and either your Username or Email address. Remember that your password is case sensitive. Also, when using your email address to log in, be sure you are using the email that you entered when signing up. No matter which Internet account or computer you use, your email address will always be the same. If you've forgotten which email address you used, just use your Username to log in and then go to ACCOUNT INFO and retrieve or change your email address. If you know you are typing in your information correctly and are still being sent back to the log in screen, please read the other bullets below.
  • Corrupted Cookie: Our server sets a cookie on your computer when you log in. Sometimes this cookie can go out of date or your browser may corrupt the cookie. The simple fix to this is to LOG OUT (which will delete the old cookie) and then log back in.
  • Using More Than One Computer: If you're like a lot of folks, you likely access the site from home and from work. We have done our best to allow multiple connections, but there are times when your cookie may get corrupted. If you experience log in problems, just LOG OUT and then log back in and our software will make the adjustment and allow you back in.
  • Internet Explorer Privacy Settings: By default, Internet Explorer does not prevent cookies from being set on your computer. But, if you or someone else has changed your browser's security or privacy settings above MEDIUM, then your browser will block cookies and prevent you from logging in. To check this, from your browser window, go to TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS and check your Security and Privacy settings and make sure they are set to MEDIUM (or just make sure that the 'allow cookies' selection is marked.
  • Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus Software: Some third party software programs will automatically deny cookies unless you tell it not to. For most of these programs, there is an ACCEPTED or TRUSTED sites list where you can enter our site name. If this is the case for you, enter BONEYARDBANTER.COM into that area, accept the changes, and then restart your computer.
  • Incorrect Computer Date: A common problem lately has been incorrect computer dates and times. An incorrect computer date will affect your ability to log in successfully. Using your mouse, click the computer time at the bottom right of your Windows screen and make sure that your date and time are correct.
  • Suspended Account: Message Board customers sometimes have their account suspended due to Terms of Service infractions. Normally, you will receive an email from us in regard to this, but not always. If you think you may have been suspended, please contact us to understand the status of your account.

Message Board Questions

  • Posting Messages: If you would like to post on our message boards, you must register for an account first. After registering, return to the board and post or reply to your message. Please remember to respect others and abide by our terms of service.
  • Netiquette: If you're new to the site and have never posted on our message boards, it's a good idea to read over our Netiquette page so that your experience on the forums will be a pleasant one.
  • What does the "email link" checkbox do?: If you would like people that read your message to be able to email you from that post, then you can click that checkbox right before you post your message. NOTE: Checking this box will make your email address viewable by everyone on the board and may be picked up by Internet remailing spiders (they are the primary source of junk email on the Net).
  • What does the "email replies to you address" checkbox do?: If you check this box, all replies to your post will be emailed to your address. If you use the email link to return to the board, please remember to reply under the proper thread or reply when you do so.
  • How do I use the "URL Link" text box?: If you'd like to have someone see another web page on the Internet, then you may place the link to it from here. You will need to include the entire web address (i.e. http://www.example.com). The easiest way to do this is to go to that web page and hi-light the web address at the top of your browser. After it is hi-lighted, hold down the CTRL key and hit C (or CTRL+C). This will copy the address. Go to your message board post and click the text box (space next to URL Link). Use the CTRL+V to paste the text into that area. This will ensure that you have correctly provided that web site address. Don't forget to fill in the "URL Link Title" section right above it. This is important. You can title you link anything you want.
  • What does the "Optional Image URL" do, and how do I use it?: This box allows you to post the known web address of an image you want to present in your post. You cannot just name an image that is on your hard drive. The image must be visible on the web. Here's how to make it work: Find an image on the web that you want to use. "Right Mouse" click on that image and look for the "name" of that image (i.e. it may say "View Image (sabres.gif)"). Select that menu option. You should now just see the image by itself on the webpage. Copy the URL address at the top and use it to paste into the OPTIONAL IMAGE URL text window that is located at the bottom of your message or reply. Once you hit REPLY or POST, your image should be visible at the bottom of your message. It's a good idea to double check the address that you have pasted into that box to make sure you didn't cut any letters off at the beginning or end. Make sure you have the entire URL (i.e. http://www.somewhere.net/somewhere/image.gif).
  • How do I view messages that have fallen off of the main message board?: There are two ways to view older messages. You can use the SEARCH MESSAGES feature, or you can scroll to the bottom of the message board and click MORE MESSAGES. More Messages will take you to the previous screen of messages. You can search messages via this method as far back as you want to go. To search for specific messages, just select the "Search Messages" button at the top of the message board. You may choose to search by date, Username, or even keywords. You may do a multiple search as well (i.e. search for a Username that posted a message about recruiting on a certain date). When searching by date, the only messages that appear are Original messages. Replies are only seen when clicking on that message.
  • What do we do about people who abuse the Terms Of Service?: Please contact us at theboneyard@usa.net if you feel that someone is violating the Terms Of Service. We want these boards to remain a great place for people to enjoy civilized discussion about college athletics.
  • I have lost or forgotten my password. Can't I just create a new account?: Please don't. If you have lost or forgotten your password, please visit our Password Reset page, or email us (Contact Form) and ask us to look it up. We check the email quite often throughout the day and it only takes a minute for us to look into the database and get back to you.
