This has been a great learning experience for a season. How to
maintain intensity when the remainder of your schedule is softer
than the beginning. As Terry Holland said he didn't want to wait
until post season to play a bigtime team, he wanted bowl-type games
during the season.
The downside of playing tough teams early is the injury factor
also but I like ECU's approach. The media attention is great for
recruiting. We now know we can beat good football teams. We now
have to learn how to 'expect' to beat good teams and also take care
of the teams we are 'supposed' to beat. As with the Atlanta
Braves, they didn't beat all their bigtime opponents but they
rarely lost to those they were supposed to beat. ECU needs that
atitude. Before you can talk about BCS you have to take care of
beating your conference.
